To earn Magnet recognition, organizations must provide the ANCC with both qualitative and quantitative evidence of patient care strategies and outcomes. The ANCC will also conduct a site visit to determine criteria for meeting Magnet status. Magnet recognized hospitals are associated with higher patient satisfaction rates, higher job statistician and lower risks mortality rates, according to past research.
Only 430 hospitals in the world and 30 in California have achieved Magnet status.
“This highly regarded credential is a reflection of our nurses’ ceaseless dedication to providing patient-centered care and maintaining the highest standards of professional practice,” said Annette Sy, RN, chief nursing officer at Keck Medical Center of USC in Los Angeles. “Our Magnet journey, which began seven years ago, was a rigorous and rewarding process that engaged the entire Keck Hospital of USC community.”
