It’s Patient Safety Awareness Week: 5 resources, ways to participate

Patient Safety Awareness Week, an initiative of the National Patient Safety Foundation, runs March 12 through March 18 this year.

Here are five resources and ways healthcare professionals can participate in Patient Safety Awareness Week.

1. Sign the 2017 pledge for patient safety, which reads, “I pledge to strive to implement and follow practices that increase the safety of my patients and my team.”

2. Follow the hashtag #UnitedForPatientSafety on Twitter and use NPSF’s suggested social media posts to spread the word.

3. Download posters and other Patient Safety Awareness Week campaign materials to use in your facility.

4. Access materials for NPSF’s “Ask Me 3”, a health literacy program to promote better communication between healthcare providers and patients.

5. Download and read “Safety is Personal: Partnering with Patients and Families for the Safest Care“, a report from NPSF Lucian Leape Institute.
