Index Shows Satisfaction With Hospital Care Dropped in First Quarter 2010

The American Customer Satisfaction Index would have shown improvements overall for the first quarter of 2010, were it not for a slump in satisfaction for hospital care, according to the latest ACSI report.

Customer satisfaction with the hospital industry declined 5 percent to 73, its lowest level in five years, according to the index. Outpatient care held steady but inpatient and ER visits plunged, suggesting a greater focus on outpatient treatments.

By contrast, satisfaction with ambulatory care rose 1.3 percent to 81, according to the index.
