In 2015, dozens of hospitals from across Illinois submitted synopses of innovative projects designed to enhance patient care and improve hospital operations. This year’s compendium showcases projects that range from improving treatment of sepsis, reducing central line-associated bloodstream infections and preventing venous thromboembolism to decreasing catheter-associated urinary tract infections, increasing the availability of palliative care and reducing readmissions in patients with pneumonia, among others. These best practices also will be featured nationally on the American Hospital Association’s Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence website.
