HR More Concerned With HCAHPS Scores Than Nurses

While 80 percent of hospitals report HCAHPS scores as a top priority, human resources workers were reportedly more concerned with the scores than the nursing staff, according to a HealthcareSource survey.

Of the 80 percent of respondents citing HCAHPS as a main concern, 25 percent were nurses and 43 percent were human resources respondents.

Additionally, of the respondents who said they use behavioral assessment software when screening to hire new nurses, 48 percent of talent acquisition professionals said they use it, compared to 25 percent of CNOs and directors of nurses.

“This discrepancy could indicate a lack of communication between HR and nursing when it comes to hiring best practices,” said Teri Kuttenkuler, HR director at Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems, in a news release regarding the survey.
