Malcolm Butler, MD, Columbia Valley Community Health’s medical director, hopes the center will be open by July 2015, according to the report. It would be the first physician residency program in the city.
The program would be three years with eight residents in each year’s group, according to the report. It would be funded through Medicare.
The organizations plan to work out the program’s logistics in the spring. If everything comes together, they would then file an application with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, according to the report.
The organizations hope the program will attract primary care physicians to practice in or around the Wenatchee area.
