U.S. News and World Report analyzed survey responses from 114 schools based on seven weighted indicators to calculate the medical school primary care ranking as a percentage. The indicators used in the primary care ranking model include a peer assessment score, an assessment score by residency directors, primary care rate, student selectivity, median MCAT total score, median undergraduate GPA, acceptance rate and faculty resources.
The top school received 100 percent and the other schools received their percentage of the top score.

2. University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) — 98 percent
3. Oregon Health and Science University (Portland) — 84 percent
4. University of California (San Francisco) — 83 percent
5. University of Massachusetts (Worcester) — 79 percent
6. University of Minnesota (Minneapolis) — 77 percent
7. University of Nebraska Medical Center (Omaha) — 77 percent
8. University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) — 75 percent
9. Michigan State University-College of Osteopathic Medicine (East Lansing) — 74 percent
10. University of Wisconsin (Madison) — 74 percent
