The survey received 156 responses from groups across the nation, which represents more than 2420 physicians. Of the respondents, 53 percent say they have been fully integrated with a hospital system. That percent is up from 2010, when less than 20 percent of cardiology groups told MedAxiom they were fully integrated.
The following is the breakdown of survey respondents on where their group was in the process of integration:
Fully integrated: 53 percent
In the process of integrating: 14 percent
Considering integration: 11 percent
Not currently considering integration, but may in the future: 19 percent
We will never consider integration: 3 percent
