U.S. Rep. Jeff Landry (R-La.) said the VA claimed plans to open two community-based outpatient clinics in Lafayette, La., and Lake Charles, La., fell through because a federal government worker did not follow the appropriate process, according to the report.
Rep. Landry sent a letter to VA Secretary Eric Shinseki demanding accountability. While Mr. Shinseki assured there would be “timely activation” of the clinic, Rep. Landry, Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) and Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) are meeting with the secretary to discuss the issue further, according to the report.
