The potential affiliation was not brought on by financial difficulties, said North Cascade CEO Jerry Marschke, and both groups plan to continue a close working relationship beneficial to Whatcom County, according to the report.
North Cascade is comprised of 13 physicians, three nurse practitioners and 106 staff members, according to the report.
If both sides reach an agreement the acquisition will go into effect April 1, 2011.
