Hay Group’s 2011 Physician Compensation Survey also found that hospital-employed physician specialists might only receive 2.4 percent salary increases, which is below the 4.5 percent salary increases group-based physician specialists might see next year.
Primary care physicians can expect higher pay increases than specialists in 2012 due to the shortage of primary care physicians, according to the release. Based on its survey, Hay Group estimated hospital-employed primary care physicians might receive salary increases of 2.9 percent, and group-based primary care physicians might see salary increases of 3.3 percent.
