Grafton (W.Va.) City Hospital has joined Charleston, W.Va.-based Vandalia Health, effective Sept. 1.

The hospital will be renamed Vandalia Health Grafton Hospital, according to an Aug. 31 health system news release.

The transition follows approval from the West Virginia Health Care Authority. Mon Health System, a member of Vandalia Health, has provided management services to the hospital since 2019.

Under that management relationship, the hospital expanded access to cardiology services and substance use treatment programming provided by Vandalia Health physicians. The organizations have also collaborated on investments in technology, programs and facilities, the release said.

“As Vandalia Health Grafton Hospital, we have an opportunity to build on the hospital’s strengths, expand connections across our network and ensure it remains a strong healthcare resource for this community for years to come,” Vandalia Health President and CEO Jeff Sandene said in the release.

Vandalia Health has grown to 17 hospitals, with 15 of those fully integrated into the system, up from four hospitals four years ago, Mr. Sandene told CBS affiliate WDTV. He also said Vandalia is investing $5 million in infrastructure and clinical services, building on a previous $1.5 million investment in Grafton, to prepare the hospital for the 2028 rollout of the system’s Epic EHR, which will include Grafton Hospital and create a single medical record across all system facilities, WDTV reported.
