The program helps registered and advance practice nurses as well as nurse faculty repay their education loans. Nurses accepted in the program must then commit to work in a hospital with a critical shortage of nurses or at an accredited nursing school for two years.

The program reserved up to half of its funding specifically for nurse practitioners.
