Michigan’s St. John Providence Health Forms ACO

A physician organization based in St. Clair, Mich., has joined a joint venture with Warren, Mich.-based St. John Providence Health System to form a new physician-led accountable care organization, according to a Crain’s Detroit Business report.

The physician organization, called The Physician Alliance, is comprised of six independent groups in Michigan: St. John Medical Group, Providence Medical Group, Macomb St. Clair IPA, Macomb Physicians Organization, Oakland General Physicians and River District Physician Group.

The ACO will be called St. John Providence Partners in Care. Officials have said the ACO will spend time in the next year developing its infrastructure and expanding its electronic medical record.
