Two organizations, MaineHealth in Portland and MidCoast Hospital in Brunswick, told the Bangor Daily News they developed internal policies that will allow physicians and other medical staff to opt out of providing assisted-suicide treatment. Several other health systems are still working on their policies, according to the report.
Seven other states and Washington, D.C., have similar laws, according to the report.
