Under the affiliation agreement, Lahey Hospital will become a preferred hospital for Atrius Health patients in Burlington and the surrounding areas. Additionally, the two parties will collaborate on clinical initiatives and IT integration for improved care coordination.

“Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is a natural partner for Atrius Health because we share a vision to provide safe, high quality and cost-efficient care for our patients and communities,” Gene Lindsey, MD, president and CEO of Atrius Health and its largest affiliated medical group, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, said in the news release. “This affiliation is an opportunity to further enhance the care we provide to our patients through improved care management.”

“We are delighted to become a preferred hospital of Atrius Health. As a result of this new agreement, we will be able to provide more complex care locally for Atrius Health patients,” Howard Grand, JD, MD, president and CEO of Lahey Health, said in the release.

Atrius Health’s Boston-based preferred tertiary hospital is Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. With the addition of Lahey Hospital as a preferred hospital, patients north of Boston now have a choice to receive tertiary care closer to home, according to the release.
