Here are four things to know about the affiliation:
1. The clinical affiliation will further develop graduate medical education programs and ensure clinical and research rotations for students at HonorHealth facilities in Phoenix, Scottsdale and surrounding areas, according to an Oct. 9 system news release.
2. A process will also be developed to give ASU faculty appointments to HonorHealth clinicians who participate in leadership or education activities for the new medical school.
3. The affiliation will also offer research and innovation programs to strengthen the HonorHealth Research Institute and its translational and clinical research programs.
4. This is the first move toward developing the ASU Health medical school and creating the clinical education programs. ASU is working to obtain accreditation through the liaison committee on medical education and expects to admit its first class of about 35 students in the 2026 to 2027 academic year.
