Highmark CEO William Winkenwerder Jr., MD, and other company officials will discuss the payor’s plans for the site at the groundbreaking ceremony today.

The medical mall is one component of Highmark’s billion-dollar plan to develop a provider network. A centerpiece of that strategy is the insurer’s acquisition of West Penn Allegheny Medical Center in Pittsburgh, which is pending.
