Ms. Schlichting mentioned many medical school graduates rack up more than $200,000 loans in debts, and the pay PCPs receive doesn’t allow them to pay off six-figure student loans.
“We are not paying primary care physicians enough when they are already in a difficult position,” she said in the report.
Michigan, like many other states, faces a PCP shortage.
