Under the memorandum of agreement, students will be able to train at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville.
The goal of the partnership is to bring back medical students who medical school officials had previously sent out of state to train because of declining patient volumes at Nashville General Hospital, the medical school’s primary clinical partner, according to an emailed press release.
“Meharry Medical College is known for educating some of the country’s leading physicians, dentists and researchers who have devoted their lives to serving patients, often those whose needs are unmet,” said R. Milton Johnson, chairman and CEO of HCA Healthcare. “Our two organizations have supported each other for decades, and we are proud to grow that relationship through this medical training partnership. We look forward to welcoming Meharry students to TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center.”
