Dr. Daley’s new role will be effective Jan. 1. The previous dean, Jeffrey Flier, MD, stepped down in July. Barbara McNeil, MD, PhD, has been serving as interim dean.
Since 2010, Dr. Daley has been a professor of biological chemistry and molecular pharmacology at Harvard Medical School. In addition, he is the director of the Stem Cell Transplantation Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
“I feel humbled by the prospect of leading so talented a community with so essential a mission — a community whose dynamism, growing diversity and shared concern for the well-being of others are a deep source of strength,” Dr. Daley said in a statement.
