Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital plans to maintain labor and delivery services at the Stuart, Fla.-based facility, despite the planned departure of its OB-GYN physician group, reports USA Today affiliate TC Palm.

Physicians to Women, a private four-physician medical group, will stop providing services at the hospital in November. The physician group will instead contract with Port St. Lucie, Fla.-based St. Lucie Medical Center, where it will be able to expand service offerings, according to Pete Papapanos, MD, a physician at the practice.

Martin North Hospital plans to hire its own OB-GYNs to provide labor and delivery services, rather than contract with another physician group.

“This is a decision that this is based on the right thing to do for the community. A financial decision would likely be another decision,” Rob Lord, president of Cleveland Clinic Martin Health, told TC Palm.
