The groups are discussing a clinical services and administrative agreement that expires Sept. 30, according to the report. At issue is a “nonsolicitation” clause that would keep DMC from hiring UPG physicians.
Officials have agreed not to discuss progress with the media until a deal is reached, according to the report. However, the publication quotes a “source close to the negotiations” who said the physician group still wants DMC to sign the nonsolicitation clause. The source said DMC offered a compromise that would allow physicians to approach the hospital for employment, but not the other way around. The source also told Crain’s the physician group has considered merging with Detroit-based Henry Ford Medical Group.
