Students from the CWRU schools of medicine, nursing and dental medicine as well as students from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine will utilize the building.
CWRU announced plans for a medical education building on its campus in 2012. In 2013, Cleveland Clinic and CWRU declared they would partner together on a shared medical education building.
The hospital and university expect 2,300 students to use the facility when it’s completed in time for the fall 2019 semester, according to Cleveland.com.
The project has received donations from various Cleveland-based organizations, including Medical Mutual of Ohio and KeyBank Foundation.
“Healthcare increasingly is a team sport,” said Delos “Toby” Cosgrove, MD, president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic. “The students who graduate from these programs will be uniquely prepared to participate and lead in this new era.”
