The program, Human Genetics & Genetic Counseling, will be offered through the university’s College of Biomedical Sciences. Master’s students will complete their academic work at the university and complete rotations at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del., and Wilmington (Del.) Hospital to gain hands-on experience.
The university is accepting applications for the master’s program’s inaugural class in September, according to the report.
Genetic counselors specialize in helping families understand the risk of genetic disorders and collaborate with clinical geneticists and other physicians on genetic research.
