The hospital hopes to bring new physicians to the area through the new residency program to offset the growing physician shortage in the area.

The program is affiliated with the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif., and had four family medicine, four internal medicine and two orthopedic medicine slots available its first year, according to the report.
