Less than 30% of physicians prefer practice ownership, survey finds

Among various practice models, 69.8 percent of physicians prefer employment, either by a hospital/health system or group practice, according to an exclusive Becker’s Healthcare survey.

The survey, conducted by physician engagement platform Quantia, included responses from 215 physicians between June and August.

Twenty-eight percent of respondents indicated a preference for an ownership stake in the practice. Just 2 percent of respondents selected “other” models, including part-time employment and independent contractor status.
