5 Florida Hospitals, FAU to Launch Residency Program

Five Florida hospitals and Florida Atlantic University’s medical school plan to launch a residency program to help combat the area’s physician shortage, according to a Palm Beach Post report.

The five hospitals partnering with FAU are Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Bethesda Medical Center in Boynton Beach, Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach and West Boca Medical Center in Boca Raton.

The residency program is expected to accept physicians-in-training in two years, according to the report. FAU’s medical school opened this past August and is waiting to be approved by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education.
