HHS, APIC, SHEA Award 2013 Partnership in Prevention Prize

HHS, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America have awarded the 2013 Partnership in Prevention Award to the Madison-based University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics for sustainable healthcare-associated infection reduction.

The award honors the hospital that has created the most effective plan using concepts contained in HHS’ National Action Plan to Prevent Health Care-Associated Infections: Roadmap to Elimination.

In particular, UWHC has made strides in sepsis management, ventilator-associated pneumonia and hand hygiene, according to a news release.
