Under the partnership, Comer Children’s Hospital will provide 24-hour coverage for Community Hospital’s NICU.
In addition, this fall, Community Hospital will collaborate with Prompt Ambulance, a Highland, Ind.-based ambulance service, to develop a neonate transfer system. Under this collaboration, Prompt Ambulance will transfer preemies and critically ill babies born at Community Hospital and other hospitals of Munster, Ind.-based Community Healthcare System to Community Hospital’s NICU. Patients will be transferred to University of Chicago Medicine for additional subspecialty care as needed, according to the report.
Community Hospital aims to expand the transport system to other hospitals in the region, according to the report.
