Christine Stearns, the executive director of Better Choices, Better Care NJ, said the organization will use opinion-editorials, policy meetings, public forums, online writing and social media to extend its message to healthcare consumers.
While some healthcare leaders welcomed the addition of a fellow advocacy group to the conversation, others raised questions about Horizon’s financial role and potential influence in the organization, according to the article.
Those close to Better Choices said the program is a direct response to controversy surrounding Horizon’s Omnia plans, which offer patients steep premium discounts in exchange for visiting providers in a preferred tier.
Horizon insures about 3.8 million New Jersey residents.
