This is the second year in a row that the number of Americans without health insurance has increased, according to USA Today. The change comes after years of decline under the ACA.
Analysts told USA Today several factors may have led to the increase, including elimination of the ACA’s individual mandate under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
The CDC also said the number of Americans with high-deductible health plans hit an all-time high in 2018: 45.8 percent of people with private health plans had an HDHP last year, compared to 25 percent in 2010.
