Boston Medical Center. Boston Medical Center is a not-for-profit academic medical center and, with 72 percent of its patients coming from underserved populations, the largest provider of safety-net healthcare in New England. The hospital is staffed by more than 740 physicians and outfitted with nearly 500 beds. In 2016, the hospital experienced 25,328 inpatient admissions.
