The World Health Organization declared the Ebola epidemic in West Africa an international health emergency.
RMS experts analyzed the pathogen’s virulence and transmissibility as well as the lack of access to medical treatment and infection-control measures in areas where Ebola is rampant and the non-availability of medical treatment. They concluded that the disease spread quickly through West Africa for the aforementioned reasons, it is unlikely to spread beyond the West Africa region.
