Here are five statistics to know.
1. The percentage of respiratory specimens that tested positive for flu marked a slight decrease from the week ending Feb. 18, but is still elevated at 24.2 percent.
2. The amount of outpatient visits for influenza-like illness remained steady from the week ending Feb. 18 at 4.8 percent.
3. Six influenza-related pediatric deaths were reported in the week ending Feb. 25, bringing the total amount of pediatric flu deaths to 40 this year.
4. The CDC reported 11,018 flu hospitalizations between Oct. 1, 2016 and Feb. 25, 2017, representing an overall hospitalization rate of 39.4 per 100,000.
5. Twenty-seven states reported high activity of influenza-like illnesses, the same amount as a week prior.
