The hospital was placed on immediate jeopardy status earlier this month due to findings by CMS that operating room staff did not adhere to proper fire prevention policies and procedures. CMS’ unannounced survey followed a report that a patient suffered first- and second-degree burns from an OR fire in June.

In response to the findings, the hospital implemented policy changes and trained staff on fire prevention, according to the report. A validation survey by CMS of FirstHealth Moore Regional and FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham, N.C., a division of Moore Regional Hospital, found no deficiencies.
