ECRI Institute creates Ebola PPE price index

The ECRI Institute recently launched the ECRI Institute Ebola PPE Price Index, a feature on ECRI’s free Ebola Resource Center.

The index is a free benchmark database of prices paid for personal protective equipment. Currently, the data is from members of ECRI Institute’s PriceGuide, an advisory service for supply procurement. However, ECRI will update the index as other hospitals contribute information.

“Pricing transparency can help forestall potentially excessive price raises for PPE if demand grows,” said Jeffrey Lerner, PhD, president and CEO of ECRI Institute. “It establishes a mechanism to create a crowdsourced, ongoing resource for pricing.”

Details on submitting price data are available on the website.
