Eko Core, the developer of the app and stethoscope, offers two product options: An entirely digital stethoscope, which retails for $299, and an “Eko Core” device that is inserted into the tubing of a standard, analog stethoscope, which is $199.
Although Eko’s product is not the first “smart” stethoscope on the market, it is the first to wirelessly transfer recordings to a portable device for further analysis. The company has plans to analyze heartbeat data from hundreds of children and adults in order to develop a system to analyze the sounds using algorithms.
