Those who support the vaccine database say the streamlining bill would lift some of the burden from school nurses to collect vaccine exemption forms, without actually affecting vaccine exemptions. Colorado has some of the loosest rules for avoiding required vaccines, requiring only a parent to state a medical, moral or religious objection.
Individuals who oppose the measure say the database could leave patients who opted out of vaccinating their children vulnerable to shaming.
According to the report, the Colorado House will have to revisit the vaccine matter twice before sending the measure to the Senate for approval.
