CMS Lifts Immediate Jeopardy Status for Iredell Memorial Hospital in North Carolina

CMS has lifted the "immediate jeopardy" status placed on Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C., last month, meaning the hospital may maintain its Medicare status and payments, according to a Statesville report.

The state's Department of Health and Human Services investigated Iredell Memorial on behalf of CMS and reportedly found deficiencies in the areas of governance, patient rights, quality assessment and performance improvement and nursing services.

Iredell Memorial crafted and submitted a corrective action plan to remedy the shortfalls, which was recently accepted by the federal agency. Hospital officials would not comment on why the state investigated the hospital last month, citing HIPAA privacy regulations.
