ONC Transitions Nationwide Health Information Network to eHealth Exchange

The ONC’s Health IT Policy Committee announced it was moving away from regulation of the Nationwide Health Information Exchange during its 40th meeting in September. https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/healthcare-information-technology/onc-discontinues-work-on-federal-nwhin-governance.html

The Exchange Coordinating Committee, which is responsible for planning, consensus building and ensuring consistent approaches to developing, implementing and operating the exchange, designated Healtheway, a nonprofit organization, to assume operational support of the network. This became effective Oct. 1.

The eHealth Exchange recently announced a program to foster greater interoperability among electronic health records.
