The rate of people seeing a healthcare provider for flu-like illness has been elevated for four consecutive weeks, rising from 2.8 percent to 5.6 percent, according to the release. This peak rate is higher than the peak rate of last flu season, which was 2.2 percent, but still lower than the peak of the moderately severe 2007-2008 flu season, which was 6 percent.
In addition, current cumulative influenza hospitalization rates are 8.1 per 100,000 people.
