CDC flu report: US activity increases, outpatient visits rise above national baseline

During the week of Dec. 26-Jan. 2, the proportion of outpatient visits for influenza-like illness was 2.8 percent, above the national baseline of 2.1 percent, according to the CDC.

Two states experienced high flu activity during the week and seven of 10 U.S. regions reported activity above their respective baseline levels. One incidence of a novel variant of influenza A virus was reported in addition to two pediatric deaths that were associated with influenza.
