The news release states that the employees’ information was improperly copied to a private hard drive and taken out of the state offices. Stolen information included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, birth dates and other personal records. Roughly 6,000 current CDPH and California Department of Health Care Services employees are affected in addition to nearly 3,000 former employees of the Department of Health Services.
According to the release, CDPH was first alerted to the breach on April 5 and will offer one-year credit monitoring for those who were affected.
