The child, who is from Liberia, came to the hospital’s emergency department Oct. 4. The ED staff completed the Centers for Disease Control assessment for identifying suspected cases of Ebola, and placed the child in a private isolation room after completing the assessment and “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a hospital statement.
However, the child is past Ebola’s 21-day incubation period and remained symptom-free as of Sunday night. The CDC determined the “likelihood of Ebola infection is extremely low.”
