Bay Area Regional Medical Center awarded advanced certification for primary stroke centers

A recent press release announced that Bay Area Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers.

The Gold Seal of Approval® and the Heart-Check mark represent symbols of quality from their respective organizations.

Bay Area Regional underwent a rigorous onsite review. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with stroke-related standards and requirements, including program management, the delivery of clinical care and performance improvement.

“Achieving Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers demonstrates our commitment to the care of stroke patients and emphasizes our pledge to providing exceptional, quality care while making a difference in people’s lives,” said Stephen K. Jones, Jr., Chief Executive Officer at Bay Area Regional Medical Center.

“The certification provides us with the opportunity to highlight the exceptional stroke care we provide as well as to continually strive to advance our care even further,” said Amro El Feki, M.D., Neurologist and Stroke Medical Director at Bay Area Regional. “Our next step in the coming years is to achieve Comprehensive Stroke Center Accreditation, which will help us to continue to provide exceptional comprehensive neurology services for our community.”

“We congratulate Bay Area Regional for achieving this designation,” said Nancy Brown, chief executive officer, the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. “By adhering to this very specific set of treatment guidelines Bay Area Regional has clearly made it a priority to deliver high quality care to all patients affected by stroke.”
