The four tips:
1. Mine data for insights: Analyze outcomes data to identify metrics with room for improvement, and consider partnering with a vendor that can centralize clinical data in one place.
2. Include physicians in metric selection: Capitalize on physicians’ expertise and background knowledge by encouraging them to help the organization determine which clinical outcomes are most meaningful to their patients.
3. Use incentives to rally everyone around quality: Set quality goals tied to financial incentives for everyone in the company, not just physicians.
4. Foster “a little” healthy competition: Create a public dashboard or another way to display where physicians rank on quality metrics against their peers, and offer physicians additional incentives for top performance.
