Mr. Reid provides an example with his recent trips to see different doctors in competing health systems. Even though they both tout the same EMR program, information will not be shared between the competing health systems, requiring Mr. Reid to fill out the same forms twice.
When interoperability and the ease of use is disrupted in healthcare, patients are likely to become frustrated and go somewhere else.
