According to an AACN release, over 16 months, hospitals with nurses participating in the program:
- Reduced ventilator-associated pneumonia 60 percent
- Decreased pressure ulcers 20 percent
- Reduced patient falls 30 percent
- Decreased catheter-associated urinary tract infections by more than half
- Reduced intensive care unit stays by more than one day
- Improved patient communication, readmission rates and HCAPS scores
