8 Things to Know About Provider Attitudes on Soft Surface Disinfection From Clorox

The following are eight findings from two Clorox Healthcare surveys on soft surface decontamination administered to a range of healthcare professionals.

  • 74 percent would be concerned about touching upholstered furniture if they were a patient at a hospital
  • 59 percent would be concerned about touching privacy curtains if they were a patient at a hospital.
  • 21 percent say they clean soft surfaces with equal frequency as hard surfaces.
  • 45 percent of one survey's respondents disinfect privacy curtains less than one time per month.
  • 50 percent say they don't have the time needed to clean soft surfaces.
  • 27 percent say they do not have the tools they need to perform safe and effective soft surface disinfection.
  • 46 percent say their facility does not currently stock effective cleaning supplies for soft surfaces.
  • 33 percent believe there are not enough products available for soft surface disinfection.
